30+ Years of Racing History

How We Got Started

The race started out as the Family Practice Physicians Fitness Run by Charlie Post in 1980. The event was changed to the Charlie Post Classic in 1983 to honor Dr. Charlie Post after his accident.

The Founder

Dr. Charlie Post

Dr. Post was a well-known Charleston runner, triathlete, and family physician who volunteered his time and medical talents to the running community. He was a very active member of the Charleston Running Club, served as the head of the College of Charleston’s student health services, and was the school’s team physician for varsity sports.

The Benefactors

Proceeds from the Charlie Post Classic provide a donation to the Charlie Post Scholarship Fund, the Charleston Animal Society and also help support the operation of the Charleston Running Club.
